Thanks for sharing your experiences. I’m fairly certain you are not the only one in the world to miss the Goonies, unless you mean these:

As a card-carrying old-timer who usually uses paper books and maps (and too many spreadsheets) for trip planning, your descriptions of last-minute app downloading seemed downright scary. But it all worked out for you, so maybe I should give that a try.
