I’ll be visiting Denver in late June with my wife and son. She has offered to drop the boy and I off at a trailhead for two or three nights of backpacking while we are there. I’m very interested in the Maroon Bells or Collegiate Peaks but I don’t few good about asking her to drive six hours round trip for each shuttle.
Any suggestions for a 2 or 3 night trip that is closer to Denver? Bonus points if we can get above treeline. We like altitude. Access to drinking water is nice too (I’m from Arizona and am tired of carrying heavy water loads).
