Good morning All,

I am hitting the A.T. tomorrow for a week.  Which one should I bring?  I hope I am not beating a dead horse.  Low temps in Luray, VA, low 20’s, teens by end of week.

FWIW:  I also have a Peloton 200.  I would love to receive any feedback you may have.

Happy Trails!

Get the KU
Iu Peleton 240 full zip.

I have a KUIU Merino hoodie and the KUIU Yukon rain parka. Both are top quality products, above say, The North Face or REI.

I would personally go Alpha 90 at those temps because I find Alpha 90 much warmer than P97 due to it having 2-3x the loft, but lower wind resistance so a wind shirt is key.

I use my P97 as a cold weather sleep layer more than active insulation, but either works well

I agree Kuiu makes nice products amd have many, but I’m slightly disenchanted with them for their direct to consumer model, but having ultra premium prices and rare sales. This comes off as greedy to me, so only recommend buying Kuiu when it’s 25-40% off which brings their prices within reason.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>I was hesitant to post as Macpac in prior years didn’t show which Alpha weight for the Nitro. Now it shows 90g, which confirms my experience in the GA/W NC mtns. With a Pat. Cap thin base and OR wind shirt over the Mac Alpha I am comfortable to either side of 32F. Colder I use a Smartwool 170 base, am fine to mid 20sF. Windy/cloudy days more like mid-upper 30s (Im a heavy sweater). My Peloton and Montbell Chameece are similar in warmth to each other around 40F unless its windy with need of a windshell, but at the expense of much more sweat buildup with the thin fleeces. The ideal kit for me is Alpha 90wt w a breathable windshirt, pref w pit zips for long uphill sections. I think the Peloton and Chameece are good southern shoulder season kits, but Alpha rules in colder weather being both warmer and holding less moisture. My 2 cents worth.</p>

Just decided to wear almost both. Sench hoodie came Great decision, worked nice with the Foray jacket.

FWIW. Had to end early. AT in NVA leaves a lot to be desired after the last ice storm.  Skyline closed all the way down to at least Waynesboro so I was told at the SNP station.

I was not cold though.
