From what I can tell, the gold standard for lightweight down insulation outer layer is the Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisperer. There may be some cottage companies with something comparable that I’m not aware of.
My Men’s M Ghost Whisperer jacket is 212g/7.5oz
I learned about the Kuhl Spyfire jacket, and asked them to provide a weight because it’s not even mentioned on their website.
They told me the weight on the Men’s M is 107.9g.
I asked them the temperature rating of the jacket and they had no idea. They said it’s “very warm.”
Looking at the jacket, I’m struggling to believe it’s that light or if it is, that it is “very warm.”
Any thoughts?
