Does anyone have experience fixing a loose leaking valve on a Kooka Bay   Taperlite mat. Not sure if I should reglue the old valve or possibly replace the Kooka Bay valve with a Thermarest valve and glue it in.

Hi Dan

Not sure of who made the valve. The Problem I am having is the valve is just glued into the mat on the seam. And the round plastic of the valve isn’t a good surface to glue to. What I need is a valve that comes with a body ( thermarest calls it a valve boat ). I tried to buy a new valve from thermarest and Klymit but had no luck.  Anyone perhaps have an updated number for Kooka Bay maybe they are ready to help.

I had a Kooka Bay pad a decade or more ago and I think it used a Thermarest pad.  Do they not sell valves?   Perhaps you can find a trashed pad and salvage the valve.

Thanks, “ You of coarse “  have a great Idea with that repair kit. Problem being it does not come with the 2nd part or the part the repair valve screws into.  But thanks for the suggestion.

Brad, your right great idea. I could recycle a two part valve out of a thrashed older neo -air thermarest pad, clean it off and glue it into the edge material of the Kooka Bay.

Anyone have a trashed Neo-Air Thermarest pad I could use for parts.

Ah, sorry about that. If you can’t find a trashed air mattress, perhaps you could buy a therm-a-rest seat cushion like this one for $25 and trash it for the valve. No idea if they’re the same, would just assume they are.

I believe I have the part you are looking for I’ll see if I can find it I got two from Therm-a-Rest and used one when I cut a Exped in half years ago I also have a valve and the part that glues to fabric off a off brand pad that a friend cut out of a damaged pad he was throwing away. The part from Therm-a-Rest Is made to have the fabric ironed to it.

Well I found the valve and block that had been salvaged out of a off brand right where I thought it was but the the Therm-a-Rest valve boat is a bit more elusive I know I just ran across it  and will look harder this weekend  the off brand is a bit heavy at 1.4 oz I know I ran across the other part recently and it should show up when I have more time to search

It’s amazing what you find when you are looking for things you can’t find. I FOUND IT!!!  Do you want both? PM me your Name and mailing address

Actually if you are gonna just use the used part with the valve already on it I’d rather just part with that but what ever you want is ok

I guess you can’t PM pics I pulled off fabric so you could see better yes the valve is still on
