This technology is new and looks to have its own potential fail points. The current practice of inserting a spacer between the joint has been highly successful, plus surgeons know how to do it. I didn’t read the article. What are the benefits of the new system? I mean, compared to the standard practice. It looks a bit like it’s solving a problem that nobody has, while introducing a new set of potential failure points.

There’s really nothing that might fail in the standard procedure, outside of possible infection immediately after surgery, which is rare. But that would also be a concern with this new system.

Jerry said that in the report he read, the recipient of the new procedure was up and running in three days. Frankly, I doubt that. Ever bumped your knee? Now imagine major knee surgery. But I’m simply conjecturing. Maybe somehow drilling holes in the knee with the new system is less painful than drilling holes in the old surgery. Again, I doubt it.
