I made the switch from a free standing tent to the treking pole style. While I have enjoyed some benefits such as weight, space, views and ease of entry, one issue has come up that is quite annoying. That is the dirt/dust that comes with laying out the underside of the tent directly on the ground during setup and takedown. This has been an issue at places like Havasu and Three Sisters which are quite dusty. I do take out the inner to avoid the mesh from touching the ground and bringing in dust once the tent is raised but sometimes the dust comes raining down after from the fly above.
