Has anyone had issues with the hip width on the Katabatic Elite quilts? I purchased a Sawatch in a regular width and find that when I roll over, my hips are completely exposed. Everything else fits fine… would sizing up to the wide be overkill?

My hips measure ~40-41″ (female) and I didn’t realize that the quilts are spec’d at 43″ at the hip…

I found the same as well. If I stayed on my back I was okay, but tossing and turning created drafts. I also tend to go semi fetal when on my side which place my backside hanging of a normal pad. For me, going to a wide pad or wide quilt solved it. I decided for the small weight penalty I’d do both wide quilt and wide pad. BTW, the Flex in regular width works fine. I cut an xtherm large down to 60” and now I can have wide and lighter – 15.9oz.

I also picked a a WM Astralite – 16.5oz in the reg length and even wider in the hips and shoulders but pretty close (tight or just thermally efficient?) from the knees down.

For reference I am 5’9” 170lbs with a 52” shoulder girth an 32” waist with size 12 feet.

When I had a Palisade, I had the same experience (drafts near the hips).  Just wasn’t wide enough.  But now I have a Flex, much better in this regard.  I’m 5’8″, 150lbs.

Did you notice a big difference in warmth / comfort between the Palisade and Flex? I’m contemplating getting one as well since the specs are slightly wider.. I’m close to your size at 5’7″, 145 – 150lbs.

I haven’t noticed any real difference in warmth between the Flex and Elite in the same rating.

Comfort for a reg width flex vs reg width elite was better due to the increased width.

There was too much time between me owning the Palisade and the Flex to compare warmths.
