A friend and I are flying into Reno the morning of the 18th and trying to get to Lee Vining that day. Everything I’m seeing says the shuttle doesn’t run on weekends. Does anyone have an idea on the best way for us to get there?

The local Craigslist page almost certainly has locals offered rides. Contact one, and agree on a price.
It might be too far for official Uber or Lyft fares, but I’ve talked to Lyft drivers who did super-long (400 mile) fares by agreement. Or maybe Uber’s website would give you a quote. I’ve gotten prices for 90 and 150-mile trips. In one case, an Uber round trip was cheaper than the airport parking cost for a long vacation.
Uber or Lyft would pick you up curbside at the airport and drop you right at the trailhead which is pretty sweet compared to most shuttle buses.
Or or maybe some BPLer wants the gig for $$ or as a trail angel. I’ve done more – 800 RT to the Brooks Range for free for other BPLers (who are again backpacking with me this week, on Adak this time).
. 10 things I would have changed on my JMT thru-hike video, don’t know if the info helps you?
The cost for an Uber on August 18, using an Uber X, is $235. This if for pickup at Reno-Tahoe International Airport and the drive to Lee Vining, a 136 mile drive. To schedule tap the car/clock symbol in the Uber App. Expensive, yes, but it is an option and probably the quickest.
Uber is probably the cheapest if that is indeed the rate. I know a few of the shuttle services operating in the Eastern Sierra also offer rides to/from Reno (at least they did when I was planning in 2014 and had a similar situation re: how I had to time the transportation), but I suspect those will generally be more expensive than the Uber price quoted above, probably significantly so.
Also, it’s not directly related to your question, but it’s probably worth mentioning that they were doing a pretty massive repaving effort on 395 when I made that drive a few days ago, and traffic was pretty massively backed up. It took me about 4.5 hours to get from Reno to Mono Lake, and I think I counted at least 4-5 places where the road went single-lane (i.e. where you stop for 20 minutes and a pilot car guides you through the work zone). Obviously, a lot/all of that could be finished by the time you head out there in 3 weeks, but I thought it was worth passing on in case you need to bee in Lee Vining at a certain time. (It also may impact whether or not Uber drivers are willing to take the fare.)
When you say shuttle not operate on weekends, i assume you mean ESTA bus on 395 route.
Well, you planned it rather poorly flying in on weekend .
Ubers about your only choice.
And yosemite is currenly closed for the ferguson fire, and Yarts doest run into park from Lee Vining due to this, soooooo……pray for rain or it might be moot question. Fire can burn longer than 3 weeks.already been 2.
