Full of hope here is California we are getting ready for winter snow camping.  A friend asked for my recommendation for mittens/gloves. When not handling rope or ice axe or building a snow cave with a shovel, my go to system has been my BPL branded Vapor Mitts that I bought perhaps in 2008 worn over Polartec 100 stretch gloves, ragg wool fingerless gloves, or a pair of Possumwool gloves.  The BPL over mittens have the perfect combination of insulation, coverage, and waterproofness.

Are there any worthy successors to the BPL Vapor Mitts I can recommend?

The BPL mitts was a the standard mitt made by rbhdesigns put on a diet (lighter external fabrics).  The successor of the original (more durable) mitt is the rbhdesigns vapor-mitt

rbhdesigns is a mom and pop shop. really, really nice folks. you might ask them if they’d make you another set of the lighter-fabric mitts, they’ve done custom stuff for me in the past.

I assume this is heavier that the pair you are replacing?  Never seen this company’s website before…interesting product line.

RBH also makes the Ultralite mitt which is a bit lighter than the Vapor-mitt.

Yes it looks very similar.  I think I paid less than $60 for my BPL mitts back in the day.

If you paid less than $60 I’ll bet that you bought them on sale when the store was closing down. I think they were quite a bit more than that at full price. I know I also got a set for $50-$60 on sale when they were eliminating stock.

@Rubmybelly

I think it was right after or during the move (from Montana? to California?) then the quick closing down of the store.
