I have three different models of INOV8s (X-Talon, 295, 318) each of which are older and well used. I’m looking to get a new pair for hiking. Where I go the trails always under the canopy of trees and are usually wet and slippery with rocks and tree roots on the trails. By mid-summer things have dried out a bit and you have slightly muddy trails in some spots but the trails become firmer underfoot.

I ordered a pair of the Rocklite 320 GTX but they feel tight. I’m considering the X-Claw 275 as it has a wider footbox.  I am confident the sticky bottom and aggressive lugs would work well for a few months.

Would these 8mm lugs make hiking on a dry trail uncomfortable?

My trail shoes have 6 mm lugs and work well in all conditions. I doubt 2 more mm would drastically alter the feel.

Hard flat surfaces will wear them out quicker and makes it a bit of a waste to wear out your super aggressive soles.

I am on a pair of these now, the soles are still grippy and are excellent but the top mesh is just tearing-app 700-750 kms. For <span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>hard packed trails</span> these are hard to beat. By the way, even though there are tears on the little toe side my toe has not come through. The model I linked is the updated version-more protection around the little toe. The rand goes up higher on both sides and it looks more robust. I bought a pair to replace them and have had them in the wardrobe for 3 months -these current ones are proving hard to kill. I have beat the daylights out of these. I am not sure if this newer model is wider though. I have been wearing these and Altra Lone peaks alternately-the Altras are all but dead-no tread. Both shoes are on about the 700 -750 kms in the last year, 1500 kms all up, between them. You always need to order up at least 1/2 a size with INOV8 in my experience.
