Was hyped to order the MLD Core pack at ca. 9 oz and $125 but learned this weekend ETA is mid July maybe later. Too late. Any suggestions for a similar pack in the same weight, or less, that is very packable, and in that price point, or less? I could even go smaller as I’m really only carrying rain gear, some food for 8 hours of trekking, and 2 water bottles.

An REI Flash 18 or Flash 22 pack might fit your needs.
Another vote for the REI Flash 22. Â I got one a few weeks ago and really like it.
Mine weighs in at 11.9oz…after removing the waist strap.
Thanks for ideas so far. In researching this today I see I can spend a lot less with a pack that is lighter and more packable in my main HMG pack.
I myog’d a scaled down Stitchback Gear THRU50 using some Hex70. I believe it came out around 9-10 oz, 25L capacity, very stuffable if you minimized the foam and got rid of the belt. Sizing is totally customizable and I’d strip a lot of features on this one next time if building for myself (bladder/frame pocket, bladder pass thru holes, the adjustable strap system I made for my son to grow into it).
This one looks promising to me: https://bivysack.com/shop/ols/products/daypack-stuffsack. Only 2.9 ounces, though the material is listed as out of stock.
Amazon has plenty of packable backpacks for cheap and light. 4oz, https://www.amazon.com/4monster-Packable-Backpack-Lightweight-Resistant/dp/B07D33FVBN/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dchild=1&keywords=packable%2Bbackpack%2Blightweight&qid=1620764790&sr=8-1-spons&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzRVdROE5OMlBCSTNLJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwOTI1MjE1VDVOVE5RQURSNlkzJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA3NzY0MzYyMElYUTQ0WEdHOERCJndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfYXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ&th=1&psc=1
