A couple of us are hiking the loop in July.  We haven’t discussed what you are proposing but if we fit it in or at least scout it out, we can give you some intel afterwards, assuming that is you are planning on hiking it the fourth week in July or later.

Thanks Ian.  We are heading over in August.  We did the north to south traverse of the Sawtooths last year and it was the funnest trip we have ever done.  Great off trail options.  This year we are hitting a few of the same spots, but adding some new routes and also adding a 3 night trip in the White Clouds as well.

Kris, what route are you considering?  I’ve been in the Cramer Lakes basin and I dont remember any obvious direct routes from Cramer to Profile.  One option would be to go over the divide toward Hidden Lake and traverse east to the saddle on the southern ridge of Mt Cramer and then traverse north to Profile.  The Profile cirque has a ton of scree and large boulders so it might be doable…although I haven’t tried it.  Previous trips have been via Imogene.

Kevin, the more I look at it, the more I think the better option is to work east from Hidden Lake over in to the basin south of Profile and down to Imogene from there.
