Mainly for nostalgia but japara tents have a few things going for them if you dscount the weight

The Karkampa, in the old Imperial it is 7 * 8 feet near enough which is a decent solo size for a long term basecamp.
No poles/guys or pegs included and it is floorless
The DIY part of the question is how to make a cost effective skin for this tent as light and strong as practical and as easilly as possible.
My initial thought is to make an external simple A-frame with bell ends.
Not SUL but LW for a long term basecamp above the snowline. Tent is just on 5kg/11 pounds weight bare.
Design criteria are cost and being able to get it onto a Paris Expedition sled for hauling in the the camp area. 16mm 6*** architectural aluminium isn’t strong enough to use for poles at the length needed but are 19m poles adequate. 19mm poles are very cheap locally at the moment, $20- a 6 metre length
