How to connect MSR ToughStake to Zpacks Duplex

I’m trying to find out the best way to connect an MSR ToughStake snow/sand stake to my Z packs Duplex. The end of the ToughStake cable is about the same shape and size as a key ring but without an opening. I really don’t want to tie a knot onto it.

Maybe a mini-carabiner? Zpacks sells them. Should be strong enough.

Or, for more strength at higher weight and cost, carabiners like these from Dutchware.

Both styles available from many sources.

Ditch the cables use a piece of zline with a knot on the stake end and a loop on the other. loop to loop knot, done… plus your lighter.
