Posting in case anyone is as excited about this as I am, but it appears that there is a new version of the famed Patagonia Houdini Pants on the market: the “Houdini Rock Pants”. They seem the same with the same lightweight fabric, except a zipper instead of the snaps on the original.

I used mine to hike the CDT years ago and for many other trips after that. Bug, weather, and sun protection for sub four ounces in the pack.
Not sure I’ll buy a pair, however. I’ve long since become a pants guy.
