can one treat a Houdini wind shirt with DWR?
Dec 3, 2018 at 2:16 am #3567085Good question. I asked Patagonia about the DWR formulation in 2016 and was told it was C6 fluorocarbon. So it comes standard with the most popular type of DWR used today. If no longer beading water, first wash with non-detergent soap (Nikwax Techwash, Atsko SportWash or similar, bascially pure soap) in a clean washing machine, double rinse and dry on low. If there is any DWR on the fabric this process will refresh it. If water does no then bead up you can spray on or wash in either a C6 after-market product (Granger’s, McNett, et al.) or non-PFC wax-based Nikwax. I still don’t understand how well Nikwax adheres to fabrics that have PFC residues on them, but its sold everywhere for use on PFC-treated garments so it must work.
