I have a few days to hike around the San Diego area coming up. Any suggestions on great day hikes? Coast, canyons, you name it. Willing to travel a couple of hours for great recommendations. Thanks for the help.

Nov 12, 2022 at 12:04 pm #3764869There’s short trails all over the county. Drive to the mountains and deserts and even more choices. Iron Mountain near Powys is one of my favorites with a great view and not too far from downtown or the coast North of there. Mount Woodson is right next to it. The third popular peak hike near town is Cowles Mountain. If you want to drive further you can the feel of mountains near Laguna Mt or Cuyamaca State Park, Palomar Mountain or even further away near Mt San Jacinto. It’s probably the end of the mountain season without some consideration of winter gear, and just the start of desert season.
Nov 14, 2022 at 8:57 am #3765022Thanks, guys, much appreciated. I did the Big Laguna loop that Adam listed and it was a great hike. 5 miles of PCT and then a nice loop back along meadows. 12 miles overall, which included a couple of miles of being lost.
