The search for a missing hiker in Nevada County has been called off Wednesday after a search and rescue team volunteer was shot in the hip in a state park, officials said.

What the hell! Was it some druggie protecting his grow or something?
Mate of mine had that problem: while walking down a remote creek he ran into a plantation with the grower there, with gun. Took him a while to talk his way out.
He rang the Police when he got out to report it. Yes, they knew about the plantation. But when he told them the grower was there, and armed, there was an instant SWAT raid!
