Any lite boot (not enough support from trail runner) NOT waterproof well draining – good ankle support out there ?

I was looking at Oboz’ footwear for similar reasons – well, not too similar as I am on a quest for a lighter pair of shoes I won’t have to throw away after just a year or two, but I digress.

The Bridger Vent model seems nice. If you want light, and don’t mind having to replace them often, the Altra Lone Peak mid ( I have the 4’s) gives decent ankle support if you tighten the laces like you are supposed to. They wear fast though.

It’s all about fit.  But if you are looking for more support, the Keen Voyageur has been around for a long while.  Comes in both low and mid heights.  Comes in mens’, women’s and kids’ models.  And it is vented right down to the sole on both sides of the foot.  So if that’s what you want, wet feet happen.  It might be worth a try on, and Keens are very widely sold in the USA.  Keen also has some other vented models that might be worth a look, but may be more difficult to find in the stores to try on.

Disclosure:  I use Keen and Salomon waterproof breathable mids, currently a Keen Targhee Exp because they fit and keep my feet dry.  In extreme weathers, add shorty WPB gaiters to keep the water (or scree) out.  But they are around a pound on each foot, which may be more weight than you want.
