I am looking to buy a DCF tarp shelter and I am torn between those from Zpacks and HG. Can anyone shed some light on the differences between the two, and maybe share their two cents on which they would choose and why? Thanks!

HG uses more robust materials that ZPacks. They have a reputation for more meticulous construction, as well.
ZPacks will be a bit lighter and cheaper.
Check out Yama Mountain Gear’s DCF tarps. Yama also has silpoly tarps.

I have owned the Hexamid Solo for years. Excellent quality that has held up superbly to probably 3000+ miles of trail use. It seems it would compare to HMG’s Dirigo. I have no experience with the HMG model but the obvious difference is the weight (+1 lb.) .
If you’re looking for a plain flat tarp then I would consider Etowah Gear.
Precisely what I was thinking – I believe that I will go with HG.
