so I finally set it up quickly in my yard. It is perfect. Awesome quality. I must say, you are very crafty. It fits perfectly under my 7×9 tarp. It is floating in the pictures because there is nothing inside it to pull it down. I used shock cord for all attachment with clipped mitten hookes to attach to tarp guy outs. I can loosen or tighten all four corners and both top attachments as needed. Thankyou again!! This will get selective use during buggy season. I love i can sit up turn around lay down, stretch out, skeeter free!!

Yea bro?
weird. Post not here, lol.
I posted pictures of the bug net set up under the tarp. Finally got around to playing with it in my yard!! It is perfect. You are very crafty. I will definitely get some use from it during heavy bug season. So much room in there for me to sit up, turn around, lay down and stretch out!! Thanks again!!
Great. Any pics from outside the net set up under tarp? I’m just curious as to how well it fits under a 7′ X 9′. Thanks.
Cool. Glad to see it get a second life.

so this was quick messing around. I did some more modifications to it after I took the pics. I shortened the bungees for all 4 corner attachments, I also moved the mitten hooks to the bungees and clipped part of the hook off so it’s simple and fast to attach and detach from tarp corners. When I say bungees, I used the Gossamer Gear shock compression cords with one of the small locks they come with. This way I can easily tighten or loosen them when they attached, and also depending how far out tarp corners are ( pitched hi low).
It is floating in the pictures because no gear or anything in there to set it down.. but when I was in it, it makes a perfect pitch and so much room!!
Dirtbag / Monte, what’s the bug netting? It looks spacious and I love the sidewalls.
Don, this is another look at the net tent. Noseeum is RSBTR .67. Has a 2 zipper front entry and water proof end triangles. Weighs 8.4 oz. I attached the corner bungees to the corner tarp stakes when I tested it and that makes it more taut, but hey whatever works. Bathtub will be higher and provide more blowing rain protection Dirtbag’s way, even if it’s not as aesthetic looking when no one is in it.
This is the net tent under a 6′ wide tarp and as you can see the tarp a bit too small for it.

Thanks, Monte!
Can’t wait to get home from work and lay in it! The irony is, as I was playing with it yesterday, I was getting swarmed by gnats and skeeters. When I got in it for a bit, I just sat and watched them all over outside of netting.
Beautiful thing. They dont bother me, I dont bother them. We can watch eachother with curiosity.
Dirtbag, what would you say your total weight is for this setup? I’m thinking of moving to a Durstion X-mid 1 from my Big Agnes Copper Spur 1 and am bouncing around with different ideas. Pros/cons?
Thanks, Don
Probably slightly heavier then some would like.. but as much as I do count grams and ounces, I dont mind, and I am capable of carrying weight from things and cutting it elsewhere. When I take it down in a few days I will weigh it and let you know. Weight aside.. minimal flat tarp and bivy are my way to go.. so thats my pros and cons right there. I also LOVE my hammock set up very much too and my tent in the winter..
“When I got in it for a bit, I just sat and watched them all over the netting……we can watch each other with curiosity.”
All they can think about is how much they want to get INSIDE the net and bite you. Amazing how well mosquitos pick up on CO2 and body heat.
Got 25 ounces exactly. Thats the 7×9 tarp with all guylines attached. 1 thin ridgeline for under the tarp to hang a light or socks or my head light.. 8 V Stakes ( 6 medium , 2 small ). The bug bivy with attached shock cords and 1 stuff sack. 25 ounces. Like I said, not the lightest way to go.. but it sure does pack small and is very versatile set up. Not to mention very fast to pitch and break down. Keep in mind, if I am using this set up its for certain situations.. summer heavy buggy days where I plan to be in camp more then hiking.. otherwise my reliable bug bivy will probably be carried if I only need to sleep in it..
Thanks, Dirtbag! Appreciate the info.
