Hi all. Long time reader, new member (my first post!).
This will be for anywhere from overnights (most common), to 2-3 nights (less common, but minimum once a season) and at most 7 nights (once a year).
It’s purpose for my application is to store my food, trash and all hygiene items at all times. Some are liquid and are medically necessary. I would like to always use my can when sleeping outdoors except where not permitted. I would like to use it as a seat when not sleeping. My pack is a Seek Outside Goshawk. The other bulky items are a Tarptent Double Rainbow Li, a Western Mountaineering Terralite, and a Thermarest Neoair (I have the different models depending on season)
Here is where I’m looking for advice; should I worry at all about purchasing the Expedition size? Am I overestimating? I don’t like having these things in three separate bags currently, which is why the switch to full time carry. I’m not worried about the weight difference. I’m not opposed to purchasing multiple sizes based on length of trip, but I’m attracted to full familiarity with the full load. Any and all help is appreciated. Please and thank you.
my background: engineering technician by day in the Pacific Northwest. Former Life Scout. Returning to frequent camping after a terrible motorcycle crash in ‘14. Currently planning for a 5 day/4 night 42 mile walk of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in late October.
