Sherpas, villagers, and traditional load haulers since time immemorial have used headstraps for heavy loads. As uncomfortable as it looks, they must’ve figured this to be their most efficient use of limited resources (fewer calories to waste, fewer hours to spare, maximize physical working life, etc.).

I realize this is BackpackingLight, but for occasional load-hauling (e.g. waterless stretches), has anyone tried a headstrap to complement the hipbelt? Why aren’t they more common? Does anyone make them? It seems like a possible additional point of load distribution.
