grizzly bear encounter

I guess it’s an adolescent, but still darn scary when it stands up and the runs right by a couple of times.

The caption says she was hiking, but it looks more like she was walking her very chill dog around the neighborhood. I don’t know what else she could have done.

she could have carried bear spray but it doesn’t seem like that area would be likely to have grizzly encounters so maybe it didn’t seem necesary

yeah, adolescent.  It seemed more curious than threatening to attack her.

I’m not dying to be bit by a ‘curious’ griz…

Could she have thrown some stones??

I can imagine that happening right out my front door, on my street. I don’t always have bear spray on me, although I often do, mostly not for bears. I don’t think she would have been wise to bend down to pick up a rock; she seems like she handled it ok. A few times it seemed like it was going away but then responded to her next vocalization with interest. Hard to say; need a bear biologist expert to analyze the bear’s behavior. She was lucky though! I would have tried every single vehicle door and got in, if that were an option!
