Hi all,
Planning a loop hike with a buddy in the Beartooth Range for the week after next. Hoping to backpack ~80 miles in 3.5 days and also hit Granite Peak on the first morning.
We are pretty fit and have climbing experience, but I am reading things all over the map in terms of recommended gear for Granite Peak. Given that we are excited as much for hiking across this high country as we are to summit Granite, can anybody recommend from experience whether a rope, ice ax, or crampons are necessary for the easiest route up? Did you wear trail runners, boots, rock shoes?
We’ll bring helmets for sure.
Here is our planned route if anybody is interested:Â http://caltopo.com/m/CBL3
