As we are all getting our kit ready for summer adventures I thought you might be interested in some new ultralight accessories I’m offering.

The Grandle combines a pot grabber, to avoid burnt fingers, with a comfortable mug handle so you can enjoy your coffee out of your pot, while saving the weight of the metal handles. It is 3D printed from high-temperature carbon-fiber polyamide, weighs less than 8 grams (0.28oz) and has a latching mechanism so it stays on the pot when you put it down.

Adam, that looks like a really nice and functional tool. The Miksa pot lifter from Suluk 46 is half the weight, buy yours appears to be more robust and stable. Thanks for staying innovative.

Never thought about this. How much do the original built-in handles weigh on a typical Toaks mug for example. More than 8 gm? I tried to remove them, but the lip on the top of the mug is blocking me from removing the top part of the handle, and I don’t want to break or bend anything.

Edit: My calculation is that the folding handles (0.24cm diameter rod, ~40.0cm total length, density 4.5g/cm^3) on my Toaks mug weigh approximately 8.1 gm total. About the same as the claimed weight of the OP device. So, respectfully, I’m not sure I see the value proposition.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>Hey Dan, thanks for the comments. The difference between the Toaks 550 ultralight with and without handles is 17 grams (60 vs 43). it’s not quite that much if you just pull the handles off a pot as it still has the reinforced area.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>The handles do come off, with a little force. You bend them a bit, but they easily bend back to reinstall.

The value proposition is that metal handles get really hot on backpacking stoves, which is why folks bring mini pot grabbers. But drinking from a pot with regular grabbers sucks, so you have to keep the handles on your pot. This one lets you use a handleless pot and save that 17g. plus it’s more ergonomic than a regular pot grabber or the stock handles.

It’s a niche value proposition I admit, but thats the game we are playing, right?!

Thanks for the response. How can you remove the reinforced area? I’m pretty sure that removing the handles will just save 8 gm, but it’s not worth bending them for me to make the measurement. I guess maybe you mean that if I bought a completely new pot without handles or a reinforced area, I could save 17g, and then add an 8g separate piece as a holder.

Oh well, maybe I’m not your market anyway, because the built-in handles work fine for me, I’ve never felt the need to bring a “pot grabber” (not sure what that is, actually). And I find it more convenient to have handles attached instead of another loose piece floating around.

But it’s good to have options.

Full stuff on your site. I bought your air horn holder. Then an air horn.

I’m looking forward to seeing how it works. I dislike carrying an 8 oz fuel can. Typically I’ll use esbit for overnighters.

May 1 was the busiest day of the schoolyear for me this year. I was not keeping an eye on bpl yeaterday.

If I had been, I would have quietly copied and deleted the post, then emailed Adam the text I deleted and an invitation to repost in gear deals with a coupon or other offer to our members. The “cost” of advertising your product on the forums here at BPL is you have to make an offer to our members.

Since this thread has had active participation I don’t want to delete it so I moved it here to Gear Deals and I’m asking Adam to please make an offer to our members. Ok, Adam?

What if the offer was to a single member in exchange for a review?^^^

Hey Dan, very good estimate on the handles alone. I don’t think it is possible to remove the reinforced area, but Toaks and other manufacturers sell no-handle versions of their pots.

if you’ve never been frustrated by hot handles on your backpacking pot and considered carrying a pot lifter, then I agree probably not one for you.

I make other items you might be interested in though.

Matthew – my apologies, I went through the website and this seemed to be the place other brands were discussing their latest products.

Happy to offer BPL members a discount, how does 15% sound? I’ll put a code in the main post.
