TRIPS doesn’t seem to recognize the .gpx files accompanying Erik the Black’s guidebooks (Blackwoods Press) — for example the Tahoe Rim Trail.  The same files load fine into Google Maps  “Google My Map” tool.   Examining the .gpx file, it’s a collection of waypoints with lat, lon, and elevation defined.

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately as these are from a small business like yourself, and copyrighted so I’m not comfortable sharing them. They were provided with purchase of Blackwood Press’  Tahoe Rim Trail Pocket Atlas.

You might be able to obtain a copy by emailing them at support@blackwoodspress.com and work something out with them for a free copy of all of the GPX files, since it’s in your shared interest?

Thanks for reaching out.

Hi Eric – Eri(K) sent me the TRT file to analyze – looks like his GPX files only contain waypoints, there is no GPX route track in there. TRIPS imports routes only – otherwise, the distances are too inaccurate.
