My third and last pair of these are about to give up the ghost and I’m Oh so sad! I know it’s a futile question but does anyone know where I might be able to locate any more?
Have nigh on worn out the internet in my search to no avail! Help! Phil.

Hi Roger, I’ve been there done that with the joggers but nothing’s a patch on the Timberlites for me. I know they stopped making them some years ago but somewhere lurking at the back of some dusty shop perhaps, maybe? I live in hope!

Roger, how would you feel if I posted in your remote canister stove build thread and said that canister stoves suck and real ultralight backpackers only use alcohol stoves? Or if I posted in your tunnel tent thread telling you to ditch the heavy tent for a flat tarp or bivy? You probably wouldn’t like that because you weren’t soliciting that opinion from me and it derails the discussion.

Hi Justin

I think you got a little tangled there over canister stoves. :-) Did you mean ‘real UL backpackers only use alkies‘? Mind you, at a technical level, canister stoves end up lighter than alkies once the trip gets long because alcohol is such a low-heat fuel. Never mind.

As for ditching the tunnel tent for a tarp – try that in the snow at 2,000m in a 100 kph storm … That advice would not be realistic or useful. Never mind.

But far more to the point: the original Golite Timberlite boots are no longer available, because Golite got out of footwear and then went bankrupt quite some time ago (I think I have the sequence right). Reviews tapered off around 2010, except for a couple which said something along the line of ‘mine are 5 years old’. The chances of there being a cache of the original boots somewhere is – what – zero?

That said, it seems that the New Golite company is producing a ‘Timber Lite’ boot again. Whether it is the same as the old model – that I do not know. So, revised advice for OP: Google! See what you think. Let us know?

Cheers

Wow! Didn’t expect such a debate! I know the boots were discontinued some years ago. I bought a pair and then ‘cos they were so good for me got another couple of pair. The last of these (a bit like me lol) are on their last legs. Been in touch with the new ‘Golite’ people who couldn’t help. Tried the net to no avail and then decided, with fingers crossed and hope in my heart that someone, somewhere might have a pair they’ve never used or know someone who knows someone who has some or …. whatever! This forum I see is my last hope and I follow the motto “if you don’t ask you don’t get”! Put it out in the ‘ether’ and hope! Stay light!

Phil, you should check ebay every single day. I did that for several months looking for a pair of discontinued shoes. I got lucky and they popped up.

FYI!

I got me a pair! Brand New from ebay! Identical to my originals.

Patience is often rewarded!

Hi Justin,

I followed your suggestion and I got me a pair off ebay!

Brand new unworn and exactly the same as my originals.

Patience (and good advice!) was rewarded!

Thanks,

Phil.
