Hello all,
I am hoping to get some trip-planning advice from you guys about Glacier NP in early August. My three buddies and I are planning on doing 3-4 days in GNP in early August 2016 (hopefully flying in to Seattle and hitting up another national park on the way). I have a few questions off the top of my head:
- Does anyone know of any great routes? I am preparing for the permitting process, and we have been researching routes, but I am a little bit overwhelmed. We are interested in beautiful views, waterfalls, trout fishing, and (possibly) doing 1 or 2 moderate-to-difficult scrambling routes.
- What kind of weather should I expect in early August? We are hoping to use 2 8×10 silnylon tarp setups at night to save weight, but I didn’t know if the weather would permit, or if bugs would be an serious issue and protection would be needed (gear budget for 2 of my buddies is very limited, so we are hoping to not need bivys)
- Will trail-runners be appropriate? From everything I can gather, the trails are pretty well-groomed, so I don’t think I will have any issues.
Any help or advice is appreciated!
