Is anyone planning on organizing a GGG 2023?
They are always a blast with a large or small group.
The rainy season is over and the hills are filled with blooming flowers.

Rick, let’s do it. PM me.
Who else might be interested? Dates? Locations?
I might drive up from SoCal if dates work out. I’ll be back East from 6/8 to 6/24 though.
I’ll be in Indonesia 5/15 – 6/5.
Thinking late summer or fall.
Hi David, PM sent.
Hi Bob S.
I’d love to get in on another GGG! If timing works out I’ll be there.
Okay, I’m curious. This young lad wants to know what a GGG is?
Gathering of Gear Geeks :)
Basically a UL backpacking meet up where folks share stories, techniques, gear, etc. and camp out for a long weekend. It has evolved over the years from a very small gathering, to a very large gathering, and even to multiple regional gatherings! I’ve been to several over the years, and they were all super fun. It was an annual thing for awhile but hasn’t really gotten much traction back after the COVID madness…Until Now!
The last several NorCal GGG events have been at Henry Coe State Park, which has some really nice hike-in group campsites. Can’t wait to see how this one shapes up!
David and Richard – As usual, let me know if I can help out with organizing in any way!
I’m interested! Would love to attend if it happens and the dates work..
Depending on dates and stuff I might make the drive from AZ.
Let’s do it! I can do basically any dates. We’re hitting peak season so I’m thinking September to early November. Later and we run into winter holidays.
Does that work for y’all?
Now I’m thinking early August, so we can maximize opportunity to attend for teachers like WISNER! and Matthew K.
What say you all?
That might work for me. I was planning to be in Carmel from August 3-6, so I will be relatively nearby for the weekend before or after.
School starts the first week of August in AZ and I have a July full of plans already. Don’t plan around me.
I have a lot of personal days banked up. Taking a long weekend is not a problem.
I’m interested
I’m interested, too
I’ll be up in the Sierra around Bridgeport the last week of July/first week of August.

Benson Lake loop-ish?
Camping and day hiking with friends.
As long as it’s over a weekend we have a good chance of being able to make it any time this summer, except for Labor Day weekend
Manzanita Point 05 (the traditional site at Henry W. Coe SP):
Currently available August 11-13, August 25-27, September 1-3, September 8-10, September 15-17.
Not available August 18-20 (but MP 09 is; it’s a little bit further and a bit smaller but should fit 9-15 OK).
I’m thinking August 25-27. Final votes?
Aug 25-27 ; sure, what’s not to love ..
i have a pallet of lumber can hacked up. quite enough for one night at least.
and .. what lucky fellow is collecting the site fees ?
Aug 25-27 sounds good.
I put it on the calendar. I will probably flake out but who knows…
so ; as i read the Richard’s question , ” Is anyone planning on organizing a GGG 2023? ” i am at a loss to as if HE is the intrepid soul who’s doing the planning (which might be best), or … is he in fantasy that one of “us” will be the solid and heroic individual who steps up and carries the flag into battle.
some might wisely suggest that a normally adjusted person soon take the up the reins on this project, because if one of their kind doesn’t. then i will.
more ; so then along those lines (planning, missions statements, etc) it has in the past, happened that ggg weekend has two nights, and the first has been spent in the campground, while on the second, many folks wander out to the group camp. i suppose that also there may have been times when it’s just two nights out on the point.
the weight and morality of these matters may, for some, justify deep and possibly spiritual consideration. please weigh in on this before it spirals out of control, and peter slams solidly into the flowery text buffer.
