GG Whisper DCF floorless solo tent (9.8 oz)

Glen brought this tent to the Bay Area GGG last weekend and it got a lot of attention there.  I have a Zpacks Solplex, which has a floor and is fully enclosed, but it’s also closer t0 16 oz and the Whisper seems roomier in some ways.  Glen is a lot taller than me and I often rub my foot box on the Solplex, but he wouldn’t have that problem in the Whisper.  It’s wider at the headend, but tapers FWIW.  I also like how the pole is not in the way of the door.

This is definitely more weather protection and more livable than a bivy for only a few oz more, and weighs less than my cuben hammock tarp, which is roomy, but doesn’t have the mesh skirt.

The Whisper does have a small footprint and that’s a huge plus. The more I look at pics and Glen’s hand drawn blueprints the more I can see how asymmetrical and unique the design really is. It has 3 back panels compared to 2 on the front, and hence there’s an extra stake on the back.

I just need to get used to the Whisper’s irregular shape. Reminds me of the Big Sky Wisp 1P tent. Looks roomy and appears to have nice headspace for a 1 person shelter. I bet a ZPacks Solo DCF Bathtub floor would work great in the Whisper.
