It’s the time of year for the Orionid meteors again and we have nice dark skies due to the new moon.

Tomorrow night, I’ll be driving into Anchorage at midnight so I’ll stop on the pass about 40 miles from the nearest artificial light.
And if you’re more ambitious, we’re in one of best windows for viewing Uranus (appears as a dim blue-green spot barely visible to the naked eye, so you need to know exactly where to look). Google it and skip the Time and NewsWeek articles – go to an astronomy page for more helpful and accurate info.
