It would help immensely for the potential shopper/swapper, if the seller would include what the darned thing is in the title of the post. If I’m looking for say a tent, but I don’t know all the makes and models of the cottage brands, then every time I see a new word I have to go google it. If the person just put “tent” in the headline, then it would be a lot easier to skim through the FS items. (Not looking for a tent, just as example). Even when I’m familiar with a brand, the name of the item could be a tent, a pack, a quilt or just about anything. Just a suggestion!

A Khufu, a Flicker, a Bearikade, a Solomid, a Spruce, an Elevate, a Grace Solo, a Swiftline, a Kakwa, for example!

Just making sure I’m hearing you correctly. You are saying that you would prefer people title GS threads to include the product category as part of the Gear Swap title. Assuming I’m correct, you are saying that you think “HMG 9×9 Tarp” is preferable over “HMG 9×9”.

I agree that it is a good best practice but also I think it applies less as the gear gets more niche. If you don’t know what that tarp is, it’s definitely not for you. Still, I think the word “tarp” is useful in most listings about tarps.

I agree-I think this is just a posting etiquette thing, not a BPL site issue IMO.

I assume it would make the items of interest show up better in a search? EE 20 degree may not show up as easily as say EE 20 degree quilt
