Anyone use this watch? Thoughts? What watch do you use and why? Looking for a simple GPS watch, not too fancy.

I have an Amazfit Stratos GPS watch that worked really well and accurately tracked my mileage and then synced it back to my iPhone.  My wife bought me an Apple Watch 6 for my birthday (she REALLY didn’t like the look of the Stratos) and now it’s sitting unused.  The battery life was pretty good and I could get two days of hiking out of it (just using the tracking mode while hiking) in a single charge.

PM me if you’d like to try a GPS watch and I’m happy to ship it to you.  It would at least give you an idea of what you like and don’t like before you commit.

The advantage of the Garmin Instinct is that it syncs with the inReach (if you have one) in case that’s a requirement.

@Kevin. Thanks for the offer. I do have a garmin inReach.  Actually have the Explorer + that I am planning on selling soon, when i receive the mini. Im really not ready to get the watch just yet, it is just something I am starting to look into and I would kind of like it to sync with the InReach.

I suspected that might be the case, but if you (or anyone else on BPL for that matter) change your mind and would simply like to try out a GPS-enabled watch, I’m happy to loan it out.  I strongly suspect I won’t use it on the trail again now that I have the updated Apple watch.

@kbabione

I might take you up.  I’ve been wanting to get an instinct myself,  just haven’t saved up the cash yet….
