I live in Southern California north of LA and hike frequently in the back country off trail, on game trails, and generally off the beaten path places.This means lots of walking through knee high grass and brush.
I get tons (tons!) of seeds, stickers, twigs and all sorts of crap in my shoes. (Solomon SpeedCross5 trail runners that I use for general purpose hiking in all but the worst terrain)
My main problem is Foxtail grass seeds which seem to penetrate and stick in anything, but star thistle and many other spikey things find their way into my shoes as well.
What do you all recommend for Gaiters to keep this crap out of my shoes? I was considering the OR Thru gaiters

I dont need waterproofness or care if they dont hold up for years.
