Thru hiker “One Gallon” just completed his 4th Triple Crown hike (1 Triple Crown is completing the AT, PCT, and CDT), in addition to other hikes, bikes, and paddling trips.

Oops. Not exactly in a row as the other adventures were interspersed, but still a pretty good fear (though likely sacrificing some material goodies). Met the guy briefly once and he’s pretty friendly and unassuming; he hit 60 so doing the math..

It’s amazing the simplicity. No doubt in all that time he’s become so, damn, good at using that 8*8′ tarp as well that the sheer skill in finding campsites, and pitch, overcomes any of its possible shortcomings. Quite inspiring. The cost per night on such a tarp (no doubt there have been replacements, but still…) would be miniscule.
It would be interesting to see a gear list for One Gallon (what he uses now).
