Does anyone have experience with silicone water bottles? If so, ever found one that doesn’t put a flavor in your water? I’ve had extremely mixed experiences with other silicone products in this regard. Had to get rid of some silicone ice cube trays once because they tasted so bad. Interested in silicone specifically because my sweetie is uncomfortable with other types of plastic bottles for health reasons.

I’ve been ok with hydrapak sf750. I did follow the sequence of freezing with a little lemon juice in the water for a few days followed by a repeat with a baking soda. That cuts any taste a lot but it may also depend on how much one notices it.
X2 on Hydrapak
I could not get rid of the bad taste inside the Hyrdak I bought.
There are other BPA free options. I was looking for lightweight options that could be used for water storage and transport inside a pack, by hand carrying, or piled up in the back of my SUV.
While not a bottle per se, after a couple of rinsings with Palmolive, I found the BPA-free polyurethane MSR Dromlite to be excellent.  I also got two of the ( over priced) Nylon Sea to Summit WaterCell X. The cap on the WaterCell is a bit finicky to seal tightly but after several rinsings with hot water and Palmolive, the water tastes fine.

AFAIK many of the health claims are marketing from the manufacturers. The bottles still contain plastic from petroleum.
Hydrapak bottles are not made from silicone; they are TPU. This seems to have become the default alternative to flexible vinyl that studies found leached plasticizers into water. There do seem to be some silicone bottles on Amazon though many of the bottles that come up on their search definitely aren’t.
If you are truly wanting non-leaching option, single wall stainless steel bottle is probably your best choice.
