I haven’t used my Katadyn hiker pro in like 8 years. Probably 12 years old. I always cleaned and dried well. Considering using it again. Opened it up to see the condition -see picture. It’s discolored but the filtered sink water I tested tasted fine. Question is is it still effective at filtering the bad stuff and field efficiency. Should I use or just get a replacement filter for about $45?
I contacted Katadyn but they never got back to me.
I have one of those but haven’t used it for years, too heavy, and pumping it was sort of a pain
It looks fine. Mine got much worse before I replaced filter
If it still pumps okay I’d use it. Some pressure on it when you pump, but not too much.
I think I have an unused filter/pump in my closet. You are welcome to it if you want. Bought it a 3 or so years ago, never opened it.
