I know this has been discussed on here some in the past, but I’m looking for recommendations of currently available products. Here’s my criteria:

-Short sleeve, t shirt preferred

-Effective Odor control

-Lightweight, airy for summertime, usable as a base layer in wintertime (not for thermal value, just to handle sweat)

-Good color options (I prefer natural tones- something medium that won’t show too much dirt nor absorb too much heat like black)

– Reasonable cost

– American made preferred (I know, a bit of a stretch)

What have you all found that works well for you and is currently available?

I find Columbia T shirts to be excellent. Very durable and lightweight. And the synthetics ones seem as if they don’t run if caught on a light snag, like a lot of other synthetic shirts.

For a long sleeve I like the Columbia Silver Ridge.

I haven’t looked much at Columbia’s shirts recently, but I’ll check them out!

long sleeves protect you from bugs and sun

I don’t know about ready made shirts because I make my own from Supplex

I would add OR Echo shirts to you look at list. Minimal biting insect issues I wear l/s zip neck Echo shirts or Patagonia lightweight capilene l/s zip neck. Bug shirt is Columbia Silver Ridge soaked in permethrin.

ExOfficio Give-N-Go Tee was great this summer in Spain in both high heat and humidity. I also thought the odor control worked well.

Like with any light shirt, it snags easily.

Patagonia Capilene Lightweight 1/4 zip, Forge Gray color.  Wicks sweat and dries quickly, enough sun protection.

+1 to the OR Echo (or Echo Duo). Color palette leaves something to be desired IMO, but otherwise great shirt, I have a s/s, l/s, and hoody.

My fav (I have 3) is the Columbia Low Drag Offshore LS in white.

Light, airy, dries very quickly, slightly stretchy so zero binding, UPF 40, and after sending it to Insect Shield for treatment, no mosquitoes or ticks. Highly recommended.

Oh yeah…and often can be found for $40 or less.

I like the Icebreaker Tech Lite t-shirts. Merino blend, so stink isn’t an issue, comes in neutral colors, often on sale. A lot of people don’t like merino in hot weather, but I’ve never really had an issue. I like my Outdoor Research Echo shirt, but it starts to stink after a few days on the trail.

short sleeve titan ultra shirt.has worked really well for me when running, cycling, and fast packing. Coolest wearing shirt I have ever used, especially when I am sweating buckets… though for backpacking I would tend to go long sleeve for the sun protection for my arms. When I am taking it a bit easier, I love icebreaker 150wt Anatomica Tees

OR Echo and lightweight Patagonia are pretty similar material weight wise.  Fit is pretty different though, with OR tending to be bigger/boxier and Patagonia tending to be more fitted.  I personally prefer the Patagonia lightweight long sleeve in a light color (admittedly, colors this season aren’t great).    When I want short sleeve I just push the sleeves above my elbows.  I keep wanting to try the zip neck version, but the price and color selection keep making me stay away.
