FarOut issue

I have a question for anyone who uses the FarOut app, wondering if anyone has had problems with it lately on their iPhones? About a month or so ago, I was using it and everything was fine. Then about a week ago, I opened the app and logged in and all my maps were gone, except one – the one I purchased longest ago. I  tried turning on and off, logging in and out, removing and reinstalling the app. I have an open tech support request in to FarOut and so far they haven’t managed to solve it either.

I can log in to FarOut through a browser, both on my phone and my desktop. But when I go to the iPhone FarOut app, the trails I’ve purchased show as needing to purchase. It’s really maddening. I’m  hoping someone out there might have a clue. I’m just glad it didn’t happen mid-hike somewhere!  But I will always, always have a printed map, just in case. Still, it would be nice to be able to use the trail guides I’ve already bought on FarOut.

It’s working here for me on iOS with a couple of different maps I have purchased from them.

I had the same issue a month ago only on the Android and desktop web app.  Emailed them and it was resolved in a day or two.  They got right back with me for confirmation.  Hopefully they can get you back up and going quickly.  Frustrating.

Well for the record, it took about 20 emails and lots of screen shots and messages with failure info but my FarOut issue is fixed. I have all my trails back and everything is working right again. I really like the convenience of the app and the additional info it has over a printed map. But… I’m still bringing a map. Forever. I can’t fault the company – computer crap happens. But I’ll have a map and compass along on every trip.

I once had an issue with Farout (i think it was still guthooks) while through hiking. I sent a message via email and a got a response same day (by a calendar year triple crown hiker) and problem solved by next morning.

Glad your problem was also solved!

Yeah I will give full credit to FarOut for being responsive and solving my issue. It took an expert to figure out the bug. I still don’t know why it happened, but it is fixed now.
