Can anyone suggest a supplier for fabric similar to the Columbia Royce Peak pants or Patagonia Quandary Pants? I think it’s around 4.5-oz, mostly nylon w/ a little spandex blended in. or if not that, then can you suggest a good fabric for a light weight hiking pants?

Supplex from owfinc.com or questoutfitters.com would work, although it has no spandex, but you don’t really need it
It’s tough to find anything with a llttle stretch in a light weight. I got some Durastretch from OWF – haven’t made anything out of it yet – very nice but it’s around 5.6 to 5.8 oz/yd. they have some Schoeller about the same weight I think. the Supplex will be lighter and probably tougher as well – Supplex is very durable, I have never been able to wear out a pair of supplex shorts, just the elastic goes and the fabric is still fine. But stretch is nice, I have some Eddie Bauer pants with some stretch and man are they comfortable.
I have worn out supplex shorts, but it takes years, yeah, very durable
And I’ve torn them on a sharp branch, but many times I’ve snagged the pants and the pants weren’t damaged
4 ply (4.4 oz) is heavier so maybe better for pants, 2 ply (3.4 oz) is lighter so better for shirt
