I’m sure some will figure out i’m looking for a new shelter. yes i’m picky but i’m going to be if i’m dropping $200+ for a shelter.

I’ve heard of tipik tents but have no knowledge of there stuff? any one have their pioulou? i’m going between 15D or 20D looks like only a 2oz  difference.   it look big and roomy for 1 person,  similar to wilderness gear penta tarp and   zpacks pocket tarp with doors but bigger.

only downside is they are in france and long lead times

i’ve also been considering wilderness gear penta but who knows when/if he’ll start making again….

beyond that the slingfin splitwing is on my short list, just unsure if i can sit up comfortably even though in the review done here he’s 6’2″ and can but slumped over a bit, i’m 6ft.

advantage of the splitwing is it’s available now.

i like the idea of a 7×9 tarp but after the past weekend camping with the family in a 4hr downpour with winds and being home the following day with thunderstorm warnings with winds really whipping and pouring rain i’m pretty convinced i need 360 protection even in trees. i have yet to be convinced a 7×9 tarp will keep you dry with winds and rain.  granted yes it’s not always windy but….. a few years ago i was out in a thunderstorm in my 10×10 in a adirondack wind shed configuration and i was concerned about getting wet, i stayed dry until my seams started dripping on my down quilt in 40deg weather….. but if winds would have shifted i could have been soaked.
