All – Does anyone have experience of this set-up?

I have heard good things about the carbon poles.

I like the idea of re-using trekking poles as part of rod.

I am planning to be in Scotland late spring and wondering whether this would be a good multiuse set-up?

any other suggestions for a ultra-light fisihing set-up?

thanks

What clever way to make things serve multiple purposes – I hadn’t seen that combo.  I can’t comment on the items, but I will say that fish don’t seem to give a rap about what particular kind of tackle is delivering their dinner .  I DO have personal experience with that!

You might try posting this in the Tenkara/fishing forum, see what folks there might offer.

I have used the Clarkii rod extensively when backpacking in the Sierra with my children. When I purchased it Ruto Locura also offered a little adapter for using it with my LT4 trekking poles from Gossamer Gear. I bought two Clarkii rods and two adapters. The two kids who were hiking with me could fish with the Clarkii rods on my LT4s, while I used my own Tenkara rod. It worked great and at 1.3 oz for the Clarkii rod we got lots of fish to feed us.

Thank you for the feedback Manfred.  I think I will look to get this set-up for my hike next year.  I am new to Tenkara fishing but I like the idea of being able to (at least try) supplement my meals with fresh fish.
