Hey All,

Wondering how fragile the UL is vs the XP??  I could gladly go with the UL’s slightly lower R-value if the lighter weight material/UL design has proven trustworthy.  Thoughts??

Also, I don’t find the data stating the Packed Size of the UL.  Anybody know?

Thanks in advance!

I bought the XP but may exchange it for Xtherm because of bulk and weight differences

Just one example, but my UL Winter blew apart on the first day of a pretty big winter snowshoe trip.  All I did was blow it up and it was in my tent while I was outside making dinner, still not sure if I over inflated or if it was a manufacturing defect.  I was able to patch it and and get me through the rest of the trip, although I found down everywhere for the next year :)

Exped immediately sent me a new one after seeing pics.  In fact, their customer service was very good and left me with a great view of the company.

New one is going strong after a couple of years of heavy winter use.

I had two UL mats blow baffles and moved on to an X-therm.  I had the older and heavier downmat 7 that’s 20 years old and still going strong, having survived the abuse of three different scouts over the years.
