I just got a 2 litter Evernew, collapsible water bottle.
I’ve seen two Utube videos showing where they had used a hole punch to make 4 holes in the visible places that they said were intended for that reason, but i find nothing else about it after searching around.
I’m just wondering if any of you have done this or seen others.
The purpose would be for carrying short distances, not hanging from a backpack.

I have done that right at those round spots on a Sawyer bladder 10 years ago. It worked well, no issues.

It is worth saying that all office hole punches are not the same. Some have the punch address the paper so that the entire face of the punch touches the paper at once. Others have a punch designed to pierce at (typically) two points. I find these ones to work better when punching thin aluminum, plastic, acetate, etc.

I decided to go with a sliding loop around the neck to be safe.

The grey tubing added for comfort, came with the Sawyer Squeeze.

I wonder if that might cause the neck to separate from the bag when it’s full of water.  The neck to bag connection may not be designed to take that much weight.

On the other hand, I routinely hold a bag by the neck without problem.  It’s a natural thing to do.  If they didn’t, they would have field failures.
