I thought I would share my first impression of this quilt from El Coyote Quilts.

This is my first quilt.

It will replace a Western Mountaineering Ultralite 20°.

Great bag.

Toasty.

But too confining.

Wanted something roomier.

Something where my knees weren’t pinned together.

When I saw the Alphalite offered on Gear Swap it seemed to be what I was looking for.

Straight 2/3s of the way down and then tapered.

It is a long (78″), wide (60″) with a 42″ zippered/drawstring and snap closure footbox.

It has 17.33 (1 ounce overfill) oz. of 900 fill goose down and weighs 24.8 oz.

First impressions.

As I said this my first quilt.

I can only compare it to the WM Ultralite.

Excellent workmanship.

I’m no seamster but to my eye the stitching is equal to the WM.

The same.

Length and width seem good for my 6′ 1″  190 lb. frame.

Top is about halfway up my face.

When I tighten the neck cinch cord the quilt drapes nicely around me and is roomy enough to squirm around and bend my knees without having too much dead space to heat.

With 17.33 ounces of 900 fill down and 3″ of loft I’m confident this quilt will keep me warm to its claimed temperature rating.

So far no negatives.

Happy with my purchase.

How much did it cost?

Did it come with pad attachment straps?  How many straps does it use?  I see from the gallery that it uses the flat “center release buckle” type strap connectors.  I like those a lot better than the mitten hooks that some quilt makers use.

Is there a draft collar around the neck? It doesn’t appear that there is from the gallery.

Post an update when you’ve tried it outside for a couple of nights. Tell us whether you feel it’s true to its temperature rating for you.

Thanks for the post!

Ooops.

Meant to reference the offer in “Gear Swap”.

Don’t know how to post link to it.

Photos and info there.

Give Brian a shout at

Elcoyotequilts.com

He’ll have better answers than me.

Since purchasing this quilt I recieved an EE Revelation 40° quilt.

Same pad attachment system on both.

The El Coyote comes with two straps.

No draft collar on this one.

Hope to get out and try this soon.

Will report back…
