Hello,
Haven’t had the time to camp in over a year, but now I do and needed a larger tarp than my solo pyramid for a second person, so I sketchuped a duplex and slapped it together hastily today.  There are a lot of things I would have done different, I intended to have the tarp elivated off the ground by 4inches with a inner tent inside, I ran out of time, looking back I probably would have gone with a basic flat 12x10ft tarp and spent my time making a inner triangle breathable tent to go under it.  Though I’m happy with how this came out, and made all the sewing mistakes I tend to make when I haven’t built anything in a long time.

Made of diygearsupply 2nds nylon.

Hope you enjoy!

nice job, looks good

maybe try putting 2 inch blocks under each pole to raise them and see if it pitches better?

not that I’m saying it’s not pitched good : )

Thank Jerry. I am planning on doing some platform disks so the poles don’t sink into the ground. I did end up pitching it a little tighter when realizing the trek poles weren’t maxed out in length. It does need mid way pull outs to be perfectly taught, and storm worthy.  I’ll also put some 3-4″ loops around each base pull out, as it was dripping wet after leaving on the lawn for 4 hours.

Ended up weighing it, and it’s a wopping 24ounces, 1# 8oz. Twice as heavy as my hexamid silnylon myog tarp.  I’m sure the inner netting will weigh 24+ oz too, as it will be made of 1.1oz nylon, since it was $1.25/yd on diygearsupply. Fun project, will be nice for winter in the treeline

Would love to see some close ups of the construction if you have time to snap some more pics.
