For some unknown reason “Reader Reviews” is closed so I’ll post here. I’ve already posted this thread in “Winter Hiking” (Jus’ saying’, so Ken T doesn’t have to put in a link here. ‘o)
Duluth Traders “Dry-on-the Fly” synthetic lined pants have a tightly woven 100% nylon shell lined with what appears to be a 150 weight polyester fleece lining. $89.50
FEATURES:
- double knees
- large crotch gusset
- included web belt W/plastic QR buckle
- vertical zippers on front of cargo pockets for access when sitting
- zippered security pocket beside right upper pocket
- velcro closing, gusseted rear pockets
- elasticized back of waistband
For $89.50 these pants are a bargain considering Rail Riders wants $130. for their fleece lined nylon pants with fewer useful features.
You will need to spray these pants 2x with a good DWR like Granger’s or Revivex B/C the Scotchguard treatment is useless. Still, being 100% nylon means why will dry fast if wetted out. You could also wash in NikWax DWR treatment AND spray them with DWR.
Personally I think that these pants would be good to at least 10 F. (while moving) with “polar weight” poly long johns. Order one waist size larger if you plan to wear puffy pants for an insulating layer.
