Did you seam seal your Bibler/Black Diamond tent??

I seam sealed a couple for myself and several more for customers of the local re-seller.( across the road from where I worked. I spent a lot of time there…)

They came packaged with a tube of Seam Grip and a syringe and that is how I learned  to seam seal using one.

I still do that with silicone particularly on the tricky bits like the sleeves.

( I also learned how to count how many poles they use but that is another story)

BTW, you seal the seam on the  outside.

I seam seal all my tents and packs even if they are taped inside.  The external seal helps keep dust and water from getting into the seams and, I’d like to think, perhaps provides some UV protection.

Thanks, All!  I seam sealed my first Bibler years ago but was looking for an excuse to not have to seam seal my second one. I don’t like the fumes and I resent that it needs to be done at all!   I should have sealed the second one back in the summer on a hot day when seam grip would flow but I didn’t,   Now the weather has turned cold and it’s time to hit the trail not stand in the cold sealing a tent.

Yes.  The seams on Todd-tex tents need to be seam sealed.

Pulling this one back from the dead to ask a question about sealing the pole snaps on the inside of the tent.  The instructions state: “Seal the corner snaps on the interior of the tent.  Using the applicator, seal the edge around the metal snap on the inside of the tent.  Also, put a small amount of sealer directly into the center of the snap, letting the sealer seep inside.”

I get what most of that is telling me; seal all of the outside seams, and then do the interior corner snaps…but I don’t understand the part about putting the sealer into the interior of the corner snap.  Isn’t that where the pole sits?  How do I do that with the tent pitched, per the instructions?  Can someone tell me what I’m missing?

After (or before) the seam sealing starts do the brads/snaps with no tent pole in place.  After (of before) the brads/snaps dry, insert poles/setup tent and do the rest. Is that what you are asking?  Sorry if I misunderstand the question…

…As I recall I mixed my sealant with a solvent to thin it and applied it with foam “brush”. I also used the appropriate respirator for those nasty, liver damaging fumes  .. being thin, the sealer would get into thread, nooks and crannies better IMHO.
